For those looking for work in the civil construction industry, this program provides an opportunity to develop the skills and abilities required to obtain employment within Queensland’s strongest employment sector.

Eligibility Criteria
Participants can be either an existing worker within the building and construction industry or a new entrant to the industry.
Participants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
- The participant must be a permanent resident of Queensland or be permanently employed in Queensland
- The participant is only eligible to receive funding for one eligible Civil Construction Training qualification per financial year
- The participant must not be:
(a) An apprentice or trainee as defined in the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000
(b) Currently enrolled and participating in a school program
(c) An existing worker of any Registered Training Organisation
(d) Already funded by any entity for delivery of the same training being undertaken as part of this program.
Funding
Funding provided by CSQ to a contracted Registered Training Organisation is a contribution towards the cost of providing the services. It is intended to reduce the cost of the services to the participants.
The funding contribution is dependent on the nominal duration of the training a participant is undertaking and is paid directly to the contracted Registered Training Organisations.
Contracted Registered Training Organisations delivering qualifications under the Civil Construction Training program will receive a CSQ funding contribution on behalf of eligible participants at a rate of $9 per nominal hour of duration, up to the maximum number of competencies required to complete this qualification.
For example, if an eligible participant requires gap training in three (3) competencies to achieve the full qualification, and these competencies equate to 500 nominal hours, then the CSQ contribution would be $4,500.
Interested participants can shop around before selecting a contracted Registered Training Organisation as each may set their own price for training. The price charged by the Registered Training Organisation is usually determined by factors such as where they are located, how many people they train in a group at a time and how they deliver the training. By enabling potential participants to select a contracted Registered Training Organisation, CSQ is allowing participants to decide how and where they undertake the training and what price they are willing to pay.
Eligible participants are responsible for any shortfall between the price charged by the Registered Training Organisation and the funding provided by CSQ.
For example, if the price charged by contracted Registered Training Organisation is $5,000 and the maximum CSQ contribution towards the cost of training is $4,500 then the participant could expect to pay the difference of $500.
All contracted Registered Training Organisations are required to advise participants in writing what funding contribution CSQ is making towards the training they are undertaking.
How to Apply - Find an RTO
If you would like to participate in the Civil Construction Training program, you will need to contact a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) contracted by CSQ to deliver subsidised training in the course you require.
You can search for contracted RTOs by using the Course Selector tool below.
Once you find RTOs offering the training you require in the location you’d like, you will need to contact the RTO directly yourself and enquire about accessing CSQ funded training. The RTO will assess your eligibility for funding.
In addition, the RTO will be able to provide you with specific details on how and when the course will be delivered, the cost of the training and any payment terms.
If you experience any difficulties in finding the course you require, please contact CSQ’s Customer Support Centre on 1800 798 488.
