Trade Start Incentive for Employers
The aim of this incentive is to encourage employers to take on new apprentices who have completed a pre trade qualification funded by Construction Skills Queensland through the Trade Start program. It will also help RTO’s find placements for their Pre Trade students and become a greater part of the transition from pre trade student to Apprentice/Trainee.
Having a pre trade student flow through to an Apprenticeship/Traineeship will help develop existing skills and increase the number of Apprentices/Trainees looking for a career in the Building and Construction Industry.
To encourage employers to employ a graduate from a CSQ-endorsed pre-apprenticeship course as a full-time apprentice or trainee, Construction Skills Queensland in the 2011/12 financial year will provide funding assistance of $3,000 to employers who take on an apprentice/trainee who has successfully completed an approved program - $1500 payable after 3 months and $1500 payable after 6 months, subject to employment status.
To reward RTO’s who provide the transition from Pre Trade student to Apprentice/Trainee (i.e. get the student a job), Construction Skills Queensland in the 2010/2011 financial year will provide funding of $2000 + GST to the RTO.
