Greenskills Training - 2011/12
Construction Skills Queensland, in conjunction with the Queensland Department of Education and Training and the Office of Climate Change, is administering the implementation of ‘Green’ skills training to construction industry workers under the Green Building Skills Fund. Delivered by contracted Registered Training Organisations, this program will assist the building and construction industry’s transition to a more sustainable, low carbon industry and encourage the development of a culture of environmental sustainability.
From July 2009 to July 2013, this funding is expected to create 3,500 training places in green skills for workers and apprentices across the building and construction industry including architects, builders, engineers, interior designers and quantity surveyors. Importantly the program will help employers train staff to meet the growing needs for the building and construction industry to offer sustainable practices.
GreenSkills courses cover sustainable practices for areas such as painting and building; introductory and professional GreenSmart programs and courses specific to key green industry areas such as solar and heat pump installation and treatment plant disposal systems.
GreenSkills is suitable for anyone working in the construction industry including:
• Architects,
• Contractors/Builders,
• Cost Planners,
• Engineers,
• Interior Designers,
• Landscape Architects,
• Project Managers,
• Quantity Surveyors,
• Apprentices and trainees in the building and construction industry,
• Students in a related building and construction program
Places for the GreenSkills initiative are limited.
