Changes to the CSQ Student Contribution (Tuition) Fees Program

The Student Contribution (Tuition) Fees Program has completed on 30 September 2015.

What other help might be available?

Minimum conditions at work can come from registered agreements, awards or legislation.  Under Modern Awards, fees charged by RTOs and the cost of all prescribed textbooks for the apprenticeship, which are paid by an apprentice, are required to be reimbursed by the employer or paid directly to the RTO by the employer on behalf of the apprentice.

The Australian Government provides a range of incentives when apprentices commence, recommence and complete their training.  Incentives are subject to eligibility criteria, waiting periods and time limits being met.  More information is available on the Australian Apprenticeships website.

Australian Apprenticeship Support Network providers offer a range of free services including assessing eligibility for incentives.  Queensland’s providers are: The Queensland Government also provides support including:
  • User Choice – a funding contribution towards the cost of off-the-job training and assessment for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees
  • Year 12 Graduate Fee Free Training – Queensland Year 12 graduates can access fee-free training in eligible qualifications, including some building and construction qualifications, if they start training with an approved training provider within a year of leaving school
  • Travel and Accommodation subsidies – eligible apprentices and trainees may apply for the Travel and Accommodation subsidy to assist those who are required to travel at least 100kms to be able to attend training for their apprenticeship or traineeship
  • Back to Work – provide a range of initiatives to support employers and jobseekers in regional Queensland.
